Science Laboratory Safety Test Introduction Students and teachers working in science laboratories have certain important responsibilities that do not apply in other parts of the school building. Chemicals and apparatus will be used that, if handled carelessly, offer the potential to cause injury or even death to students. Science teachers have a duty of care to properly supervise, instruct, maintain equipment and facilities, and warn students of potential harm in their classrooms. This duty starts the very first day of class. A safety test can provide the necessary assurance that both the student and teacher are upholding their end of this important responsibility. Included is a blank Science Laboratory Safety Test as well as a Teacher Answer Key.

CATHODIC PROTECTION (CTM 808)

Cathodic protection (CP) is a technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface by making it the cathode of an electrochemical cell.

A simple method of protection connects the metal to be protected to a more easily corroded "sacrificial metal" to act as the anode. The sacrificial metal then corrodes instead of the protected metal.

For structures such as long pipelines, where passive galvanic cathodic protection is not adequate, an external DC electrical power source is used to provide sufficient current.

This Course, "Drilling Technology II” is aimed at providing the learners the basic knowledge of Pressure control and blowout prevention in offshore and onshore drilling. You will be taught the different well control pressure methods needed to keep a well in safe condition. We would begin this course with a simple Pre-Introductory quiz, and then we will go into the course proper. We will look into: Introduction to Well Control: Overview and definition, importance of oil well control and possible hazards, after which we would look at the Fundamental Principles, Concepts, and Terminologies in Well Control. Later on, we'll look at Well control Procedures and equipments, then we'll look at Cementing.

This Course, "OFFSHORE OPERATIONS (PET513)” is aimed at providing the learners the basic knowledge of all offshore operations. WIRELINE OPERATION

In oil and gas exploration, the term wireline broadly defines industry-specific methods, processes, and technologies that lower cables and wires into a wellbore. Wirelines are strong, thin lengths of wire or braided cable mounted on a powered reel. Typical wireline applications affix “logging tools” or instruments to a cable rigged to drilling platforms or trucks that, once attached, is lowered by the cable into oil well holes or natural gas reservoirs to perform diagnostics or to gather and transmit data. As a general descriptive term, wireline is also used interchangeably to describe the processes, techniques, cabling technologies, and systems used to conduct wireline operations.

COILED TUBING

Coiled Tubing (CT) is a continuous length of small-diameter pipe that is spooled onto a reel in the same way as wire or cable is wrapped on a drum. The coiled tubing operation permits the technique of “snubbing” a continuous length of tubing in and out of a live well through a stripper BOP arrangement. The main advantage of Coiled Tubing is that it can be run into producing wells, against high wellhead pressures (e.g. 345 bar / 34,500 kPa or 5000 psi), and down past the perforations, without production interruption or killing the well (Wait and Weight – Driller’s Method). The most common pipe size in use is 1.5″ through to 2.875″, although larger sizes are available and used.

X-MASS TREE AND WELL HEAD OPERATION AND TESTING

Many times, the words Christmas Tree and Wellhead are used interchangeably; however, a wellhead and Christmas tree are entirely separate pieces of equipment. A wellhead must be present in order to utilize a Christmas tree and is used without a Christmas tree during drilling operations.
